I have had nothing but wonderful experience here. I have a very caring doctor that takes the time to listen to me. I have a complicated medical history that takes time to explain and they did a wonderful job listening and being proactive with my care. They have picked up the ball where others have dropped it. I am very thankful for this office and all of the staff with their never-ending kindness.
As far as the office staff, I am actually surprised that so many feel they are so great. I have, on more than one occasion, been treated rudely while checking in and especially when calling to make appts. It seems to be hit or miss really - a couple of the ladies are great and kind, but the majority seem to dislike their jobs and take it out on the patients. The part that really makes me upset is the difficulty of calling the office. It never fails that any time I call, I get the automated message saying to please wait, that goes on for several minutes before the call disconnects. The last time I called to make an appointment, I had to call 17 times. SEVEN. TEEN. before I actually spoke to a person without being hung up on. After making the appointment, I asked to speak with the office manager to express my concerns about this. She was unavailable, so I left a message asking for a return phone call. That was over a month ago and I've heard nothing.
My children and I will be going elsewhere from now on. The incompetence and lack of professionalism within this office completely deters me from wanting to bring my business there (because unfortunately, that's all our health is to them) and a couple of good doctors that I cannot even see on a regular basis for basic care is just not enough to stay.
*Edited to change from two stars to one star. Since my review, my children's shot records have been "lost"...again. Second time in 3 years. The billing department has fouled up once again, as well, and repeated phone calls for more than a month still have not resolved it. The incompetence is incredible.
Now, Dr. Hulbert is another story. She has been my son's primary care dr for a couple years now, and worse than the absurd wait times (both for scheduling and actual waiting once checked in), is her lack of care or concern. I have expressed many concerns about my child on several occasions, and each time I am met with basic answers that don't align with anything I have said or observed about my child, and she always seems to be in a rush. As if actually treating my child is an inconvenience despite that being her job. We most certainly will not be coming back for that reason alone.
There is a large waiting room with water and coffee available. The chairs leave a lot to be said for as comfort they don't offer. However, the many times I have been there I have literally been in/out in 30 min or so. I would and have recommended it to family and friends. It is kid friendly and offers T.V. for those who care to watch.
I seem to have had an opposite experience with this office than most other reviews. The one positive i can say for LCHC is there are two doctors I have seen that have been phenomenal. Drs. Ralph Heirigs and Michael Martine are just great. Their bedside manner, knowledge, care...everything has always surpassed my expectations with these two. Unfortunately, Heirigs is gynecology and I only need to see him on rare occassions, and Martine has been switched to same day appts only.
As you arrive the outside is beautiful with a waterfall & pond with Lilly pads & Goldfish. It is all lush & green, benches to relax on while the water feature de-stresses you if you are waiting on someone. It is a no smoking area and always well kept.
This is a very busy but caring place for a variety of health care issues. The Lawton Community Health Center offers everything from Pediatric Medicine to Psychiatrists. They work on a sliding scale for all incomes and take Medicare and Medicaid.
Wait time is unacceptable. Appointment was scheduled for 9:45am. Got here at 9:20. Was in the back and had vitals done at 9:30am. Dr. Winfrey didn't come in the room until 11am. That's after we walked out and began to complain about the wait time. We were reassured that it was worth the wait because he is so thorough. I found that information to be untrue! I'm in love with the front desk staff. They are very kind and professional. But I was not in the least bit impressed or satisfied with the care of the physician. He is not respectful of his patient's time and he spent a whopping 8 minutes I'm the room only to repeat what the nurse said. No Thorough assessment. Then left and took 30 minutes to refill a few prescriptions. That's a joke. Unacceptable. Disrespectful. We won't be back.
As I managed to be an hour late for my appointment, my bad. I went in expecting to reschedule but much to my surprise the girls at the front desk & the nurses got me in anyway!
I have only been here twice. So far I'm really not impressed with the service. My appointment was late which I totally understand that it happens. But, when it came to my appointment she pretty much listened to my chest and sent me on my way. Didn't listen to or address any of my concerns. Some positives though:my sons pediatrician was great, the phlebotomist was super sweet, and you can be seen rather quickly(back in California appointment were at least a month or so out!!).
