Jasmine is a stylist there, and she is a rockstar. She does great sew-ins, and she is quick too! I highly recommend her, especially for black hair!
On June 30th I went to JC Penney Salon. I was given to a "stylist" named Ashley Wallace. I wanted three things done --I have a "rat tail" I wanted dyed green, I wanted my bangs chemically straightened (I have naturally curly hair & I have to flat iron my bangs every morning), and I wanted my hair trimmed (straight trim/bob). Ashley said that these three things would be no problem. JCPenney does not keep all the fun colors in stock, so there was no green. I agreed to purple/blue. Ashley consulted with a few other stylists and the manager and settled on a product. ((during the course of doing all the treatments and cutting my hair, Ashley did not talk much and wasn't very pleasant. I was hoping she was just really concentrating on doing a good job...but when I stood up, there was one strand of hair that she had obviously missed and trimmed it right there as I was standing. I did not tip her well when I paid, mostly because I thought her attitude was off-putting and because she had missed a strand of hair that was super obvious in the front))
So I showed up this morning at 5 minutes 'til 9 ...and no Ashley. The lady who checked me in-- Susan Clark --was very nice and I showed her my hair cut and all the places it was longer and the strands that were longer. She said she was sure Ashley would fix it up. I was VERY upset to find out that Helen was not present nor were any other senior staff. I had specifically told Helen that I wanted Ashley supervised while she was fixing the mistakes. Anyhow, after waiting 10+ minutes for Ashley, Susan told me to have a seat and that she would do the fixes since Ashley was not there. After Susan started, Ashley showed up just in the most foul mood imaginable. I started to show her the longer strands and she proceeded to tell me that I was "pulling on them" to make them longer (seriously! Some were longer by 3 inches! Even Susan said that it was all probably under the cape when Ashley cut it and she never made sure all my hair was out from under the cape!!) I tried to show her and she got even more loud and more rude with me telling me that I had her doing three things and that it was no big deal if she missed some hair. I told her that I didn't appreciate her being late and that she should have been there early, waiting for me, and apologized for the mistakes when I got there. She then told me to "quit talking" to her. I AM SERIOUS. No apologies...no being humble...NO CUSTOMER SERVICE skills at all!! She was beyond rude & unpleasant.
Anyhow, long story short --48 hours later when I washed my hair for the first time ---my bangs were still curly and my haircut was horribly uneven and there were whole strands of hair in the back that had not been trimmed and were hanging down -- furthermore, the right side was obviously longer than the left. Also, 70% of the blue/purple washed out immediately. I called the manager, Helen, on July 5th and left a message for her. I was told she would call me back that day. The next day I called again and spoke to Helen...and we agreed that I would come back and have my hair trimmed and bangs redone on July 26th at 9 am.
Good place to get your hair cut and styled. I suggest using Leesa, she does a good job.
i tried to go down there today to book an appointment with a specific stylist... well the lady at the front counter told me that she had an availability today so i took it (its really hard to get that with this stylist) so i came back when it was time and someone was already sitting in her chair getting a full color. i asked if she was running behind and when they looked they had accidentally scheduled me for that day on the following week. i have small children and had found a last minute baby sitter. so needless to say i couldn't get my hair done. i have decided to no longer go to JC Penny salon for the lack of organization.
Anyhow, Susan did a great job trimming my hair and getting it even again....AND she took the time to read the instructions and straighten my bangs with the SAME product that Ashley used but actually combed my bangs straight during the whole process instead of allowing them to curl up because they were wet from the product. As a result, my bangs seem to actually NOW be straight because it was done right.
Shame on Ashley for not being pleasant, on time, and fixing her mistakes and shame on Helen for allowing her staff to treat customers so rudely.
I will NEVER go back there. No wonder JCPenneys are closings everywhere.
