They also have an outdoor drive in screen on the side of the building, which is neat.
This theatre is a hidden gem, I feel like no one knows about this place. Cheap movies and it's an old fashioned building. They show all sorts of movies. Went to see the old black and white night of the living dead.
Love this little theater. It is a great space to take young kids. Concessions are inexpensive. Tickets are cheap and the digital projector quality is top notch. The seats are dated but that adds to the experience.
Historic place frozen in time. We walked in and the attendant was very friendly. $15 date deal includes 2 tickets, 2 candy, 1 lg popcorn, 1 lg drink, with one free refill. They played older style music while the screen remained black where ads would be. The theatre is huuge, super dark with very dim light fixtures lining the walls, and feels like a very old movie theatre. The seats are "broken in" from decades of use and some seats are missing. This place seems like the owners try their best to take care of the place.
Overall, the place is not very well lit, which gives the theatre a sort of gloomy feel to it. Like sitting next to your sick dog that you are about to put down, this place has many memories for me.
A core staple of Lawton, the Vaska Theater has certainly seen better times. It's currently run by a small family who owns it, and regularly shows slightly older films at a huge discount. They're always friendly and they sell homemade caramel-coated popcorn among the other concession items. The downside is that it's a very old building and the business doesn't make a whole lot of profit, so the furniture is aged and not always in the most charming way.
Overall, it's a great place to go see a movie that you missed at the regular theaters, and you can hardly say you visited Lawton if you never went to the Vaska.
