I've always had an amazing experience at Eastons Ace Hardware in the past. I thought the staff was always courteous and that they were a great example of how small businesses should be run. My experience today proved me wrong. So, I have been renovating a home for my mother and paying for the materials out pocket. In order to avoid having large amounts of cash on hand I purchased prepaid Visa cards for my contractors to make purchases. I had to relieve one of the contractors for making excessive purchases. So, fast forwarding to 12:30 PM today I go Easton's to return two of the said items. I approached the cashier Kim and told her that I would like to return the items. I presented her the merchandise and receipt and Kim proceeded to inspect the items. I totally understand that an inspection for serviceability is to be expected. Kim completes her inspection and says that she needs Odo to look at them. Not a problem I'm a patient man.Kim returns to the register and asks if I was an Ace rewards member. I told her that I was. At this point a red flag goes up in my mind. There are other customers ready to be checked out and I Kim is still investigating the faucet and pipe combo I was returning. After a review of my past purchases Kim tells me that the items were not listed on my account. Then Kim asks what the contractors name is. I explained to her my contractor situation and that we parted on bad terms after I found the excess items. Kim goes back into the account look up to find the contractors name. She couldn't find his name so she fire la back in a sarcastic tone, " that's funny he isn't in here." At this point I told Kim that this investigation was beyond ridiculous for a simple return transaction, and I would like to speak with the manager. Kim comes around the counter to call the manager Tiffany. Once again in that same sarcastic tone Kim tells Tiffany that I was upset because I though that what she was doing was beyond ridiculous. Tiffany approaches a I introduce myself and give her the greating of the day. I begin explain to her the situation and I notice she's looking over my shoulder. I turn to look and Odo and Kim are standing at the register gawking. I asked Tiffany if we could speak over to the side or if Kim and Odo could not stand there gawking. Tiffany replies no we can stay right and they don't need to leave because that's where they hangout. I thought myself I have never heard a manager condone malingering while on the clock. Nevertheless, I snap to our conversation and it occurs to me that I'm being treated like a criminal. Mind you I not once raised my voice nor motioned in an aggressive manner. I tell Tiffany I am not here to hurt anyone, I simply want to return the item. She proceeds to Kim's register and Kim says that she was trying to complete the refund but she could not do anything because it was bought with the prepaid Visa. Once again I explain my delima. Tiffany does an override and gives me cash, and starts a next time lecture. I told she need not finish it because there will not be a next time. The funny thing is all I wanted was store credit so I could purchase additional materials while i was there. As a proud service member and Lawtonian it truly tears my spirit apart to be treat as a 2nd class citizen. I ask Tiffany, Odo, and Kim to look at this interaction from my perspective. Does every customer that makes a return go through a 3 step research and validation? I'm just a simple guy who only asks to given the same respect that you would any human being. God Bless

The family-owned Eastons Ace Hardware treats me with the utmost respect and courtesy each and every time I make a purchase. It does not matter if I buy a can of spray paint, a handful of nails, or make a major purchase. This is old-time customer service at its finest. I feel welcomed and valued every time I enter the store.

This is a great store but the 2 cashiers Josh and christin were very disrespectful. The lack of customer service they had is the reason I will be taking my business else where.
