My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for 4 years now. As far as the food goes, it's amazingly delicious! We've never had a bad server, they have always been friendly and on point. The host/hostess that greets and sits you down has always been a pleasant experience. BUT where we normally run into the problem almost always is the cashier. Sometimes I wish we could just pay through our server just avoid the cashiers. It seems they're rarely in a good mood. I can approach them with a smile and greet them before they greet me, I can ask them how they are but it doesn't change anything. It's a salty experience that leaves me thinking twice if I want to come back.
Edit: I had to change my review from 2 stars to 1 star. After getting home I saw they left out the Mac and cheese as well as the side of vinegar. Michelle apologized, but boy was that experience rough. Haven't even gotten to tasting the food yet. Hope that part is okay!
Great place to eat anytime you are traveling. You will never go wrong when you stop at a Cracker Barrel. I live in California where there are no Cracker Barrel. That is only one of one hundred reasons California SUCKS.
Love Cracker Barrel, but this one is not like the ones I know and love in SC!
Hopefully the food will be handled gracefully and without carelessness...
Other than that, the food was good, the service was good. The store was everything that I've seen at every other Cracker Barrel across the country.
After learning they were out of these things, I let them know I would review the menu again, find something else, and call back (I was trying not to waste their time). I called back a few minutes later only to be transferred 3 times by the person who answered the phone. She kept transferring me to the kitchen only for it to ring without an answer and then I was sent right back to her. After the third time, I asked for the manager, was on hold for a while, and the manager answered and transferred me right back to the kitchen that wasn't answering before. Finally, an annoyed sounding person answered and as I tried to order, I was being rushed to finish. I was the one on hold with them for a while; some courtesy when I finally reached someone willing to take my order would have been nice.
Usually Cracker Barrel has great food, but I was very disappointed this last visit. Got their quick lunch special, Shepard Pie. It was around 1pm. The bowl it seems was in the warmer way too long. The mashed potatoes on top were baked till the were almost too hard to eat, rather than be soft & fluffy. The meat & veggies under the potatoes weren't very hot. Freshly made it would have been good, but it wasn't a thing to write home about.
Otherwise the par one server did a very good job and was very pleasant.
Some great waitresses, but every time I've been, they have been out of the first three things I try to order. Tonight I tried to call in an order and they were out of meatloaf, broccoli chicken (special of the day...), and sweet potatoes. I was told they were out because I was trying to order too late at night. I figured dinner at 8:45 PM was safe considering they close at 10 PM...
I was a little disappointed because a military guide told me this company offers one of the largest of military discounts, but when I got to the register -- nothing. I don't know if this is a franchise or what but they obviously are not required to give discounts maybe offered at other locations.
